Express Yourself at Home and With What You Wear

Self-expression is conveying one’s thoughts, feelings, and ideas to others through different mediums. Self-expression is essential because it allows individuals to communicate and connect with others on a deeper level, express their emotions and ideas freely, and ultimately feel empowered and fulfilled. Last week I watched a clip of Cory Feldman talking about his need to express himself through the way he dresses and I couldn’t agree more. Back in my fashion days, someone said to me, “You look like a different person every day. Are you always in costume?” With a laugh, I replied: “I just have a lot of emotion to convey.” Although my career path turned to luxury real estate years ago, my passion for fashion has not died.

“They say” not expressing emotions can lead to stress and anxiety, which can have a negative impact on mental health. However, by expressing feelings and emotions through creative mediums, individuals can release pent-up emotions, reduce stress, and gain greater clarity and understanding. My mother has spent most of her life working on interior design in her own home. I remember when we moved into one of my childhood homes in a very modest neighborhood, word got out about the beauty my mother created in our home. So, one day my young entrepreneurial-self decided to charge the local children .25 cents to tour it. It was a smashing success; next thing you know, some moms were lingering around too. Very telling story, really ;)

Exploring one’s identity and finding a purpose through expression helped me become who I am today. When individuals express themselves creatively, they can tap into their own unique experiences and perspectives. This can lead to a greater understanding of who they are, their beliefs, and what they want to achieve. Self-expression can also help individuals find their voice and build their confidence. When people feel empowered to express themselves, they are more likely to pursue their passions, set goals, and take risks.

Self-expression is human nature that is essential for emotional and mental well-being, as well as for building strong relationships, exploring one’s identity, and promoting creativity and innovation. It is essential to encourage and support self-expression in all forms, whether through art, writing, music, or other means. By doing so, we can help individuals feel more connected, empowered, and fulfilled in their lives. Thank you for allowing me this freedom.
